When stepping into the gym for the first time, it’s crucial to prioritise “form over weight.” It might be tempting to mimic others around you, but remember, many gym-goers, especially younger adults, sometimes have a tendency to focus on moving a weight from A to B, rather than focusing on using the correct form. Instead of just copying, observe those who maintain a strict stance and execute exercises with precision, avoiding those who merely throw weights around. A slow, controlled movement is generally more beneficial, with each repetition lasting several seconds, and can contribute more to building long-term strength and preventing injuries than a heavy, poorly executed one.
Technique is paramount.
